Pasture Systems

Working name

Autonomous robots for pasture poultry farms. Pasture-raised chicken is better for the land and the birds, and it costs more because the daily work is hard. We're building the machines that take that work on.

What we're building

Four systems for the daily work

Pens get moved, feed gets hauled, water gets filled and birds get checked, every day, by hand. Each system takes one of those jobs.

Self-moving pen

A solar chicken tractor that moves itself to fresh grass on schedule, with an onboard feed hopper, automatic water and cameras. Steered from the farmhouse.

Shuttle robot

An all-terrain robot that tows bulk feed and water from the barn and refills every pen, so nobody walks the field with buckets.

Insect feed loop

Black soldier fly and mealworm chambers turn manure and scraps into protein the flock eats, trimming the feed bill with the farm's own waste.

Flock monitoring

Cameras and sensors watch for predators, sick birds and empty waterers, and alert the farmer wherever they are.

Do you raise poultry on pasture? We're interviewing farmers about the daily work before we build. 25 minutes on the phone helps us build the right thing.

The Earth analog

Before anything flies, it runs on a farm

A small test farm with a flock that breeds itself, insect feed, robots and cameras, run with as little human touch as possible. What works there is a candidate for orbit. What breaks there, breaks cheaply.
